Dear Students,

Below is the information regarding the rules implemented by the Department of Electrical Engineering to ensure the smooth execution of the registration process for the 2025-2026 Academic Year Spring Semester.

Petitions for other courses must be submitted to the relevant Department Secretariats according to the Department Codes (ELK, EHB, and KOM).

ELK students who are unable to register during the add-drop week, as well as ELK Double Major (ÇAP), Engineering Completion, etc., students who face systemic issues (such as prerequisite conflicts), may submit signed and printed petitions under the following rules. (Important Note: Petitions sent via e-mail will not be processed).

a. Submission Window: Properly prepared petitions must be submitted (signed and printed) to the Electrical Engineering Department Secretariat between Wednesday, February 11, 2026, 08:00 and Thursday, February 12, 10:00. Requests sent via help tickets will not be considered.

b. Instructor Approval: Students do not need to obtain separate approval from faculty members within our Faculty (except for courses they wish to take from Faculty members outside the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering).

c. Required Documents: It is important to attach your current weekly course schedule (from Kepler), your current transcript (from Kepler), and—if missing the course will hinder your graduation—your "Remaining Courses for Graduation" document to your petition.

d. Schedule Conflicts: If you register for another course at the same time after submitting your petition, or if you manage to register for the course yourself due to newly opened spots, you must immediately notify the ELK Department Secretariat. Registration cannot be completed if you are already enrolled in another course at the same hour. Please specify in your petition whether you are a 100% English or 30% English program student.

e. Section Changes: Do not submit petitions to change sections for a course you are already registered in. The Department will not be responsible for any potential confusion arising from such requests.

f. Course Deletion: Please refrain from using expressions such as "I want the other course to be dropped if I am accepted into this one." Course deletion can only be performed by the student. The Department is only authorized to approve your enrollment if deemed appropriate. The list of accepted petitions will be announced on the Department website and delivered to the Faculty Student Affairs.

g. Prioritizing Petitions: Petitions are evaluated individually for each course. Due to the very limited time, special requests (e.g., "ignore my other petition if this one is accepted") may be overlooked. Therefore, only submit petitions for courses you absolutely need to take. Otherwise, unexpected schedule conflicts may occur. If your petition is accepted, it is your responsibility to drop any conflicting course you registered for in the meantime.

h. Processing and Delays: The processing of accepted petitions into the system is handled by the Registrar's Office (ÖİDB). In case of registration issues or delays beyond the Department's authority, please contact Faculty Student Affairs or ÖİDB officials.

i. Section Assignment: For petitions regarding mandatory courses and elective courses with multiple sections, the section assignment will be determined by the Dean’s Office or Department Head based on the occupancy rates of all sections. If all sections are full, students will be distributed as deemed appropriate by the administration. For sections without day/time changes, CRN selection will be made by the Department. Therefore, please do not specify a CRN in your petition for courses that have available seats.
