As ITU IEEE Communication Society Committee, we organized a technical tour to OTOKAR’s plant in Sakarya on November 4, 2019. During our trip, we acquired information on the armored vehicles manufactured by OTOKAR, learnt about their R&D processes and made ourselves acquainted with the on-vehicle communication systems. We also had the chance to both see the insulation room and test-drive armored vehicles, which was a very exciting and informative experience for all of us.

On 4 November 2019, ITU IEEE PES Committee organized a technical tour to BEST’s and EKOSinerji’s plants in Balıkesir. During the trip, we had a great experience which allowed us to acquire significant information on the transformers of BEST and the SCADA systems developed by EKOS. We also examined those systems on site, which further enriched our experience. Getting acquainted with different types of systems and transformers was a good opportunity for our friends who intend to work in these fields in the future.

National Power in Energy (Enerjide Milli Güç) is a signature event which will be held for the first time on online platforms this year and is anticipated to continue in the future years. Through this event, we aim to introduce the local and national projects realized in our country to the audience, learn at first hand about the steps taken to carry our country forward into the future with reference to the principle of national independence, and raise awareness on what has been done and can be achieved in the future in our country. In the event which will be held with the participation of students & other interested parties from both ITU and anywhere in Turkey under the umbrella of the IEEE Club hosting more than 1.000 active members in our school, we will discuss the topic “nationalization in energy” with sessions including presentations, panels, workshops, etc. in four different contexts under the following four headings: ENERGY, DEFENSE, AUTOMOTIVE, ENTREPRENEURSHIP.

• ENERGY: Our focus will be on developments in power and energy sectors with the presentation of experts in the field, while highlighting such concepts as energy generation, storage and transmission as well as renewable energy, sustainability and efficiency.
• DEFENSE: The heading “Defense” will be discussed with sessions on domestic and nation-wide studies in the defense industry, the state-of-the-art technology products currently being produced, the extent how foreign-dependent we are, and the importance & place of the sector in the country.
• AUTOMOTIVE: This will consist of a panel and a number of sessions during which we will learn about the latest developments in automative sector in our country and discuss the steps taken towards domestic cars and especially the future electric vehicles.
• ENTREPRENEURSHIP: This will constitute an informative part on the pre- and post-entrepreneurial stages and entrepreneurial process, during which we will listen to successful domestic ventures and enterprise projects pursuing their efforts to reach their goals.

ITU IEEE Technology Conference is an event aiming to bring together everyone interested in technology, irrespective of their fields of operation. The event allows the leading companies in the sector to introduce their technologies to the participants, while participants also have the chance to access accurate information from the right sources. Having been held face-to-face with full participation in a packed hall four times so far, our event will be held online in 2021 due to the pandemic (3 to 4 April 2021). During the event, experts of trend technologies make presentations on their fields, which allows participants to pose their questions to the right person and get answers, whereas the companies with which we cooperate organize various events and workshops. Under the event lasted one day in Maçka Campus in 2016, 2017 and 2018, and two days in Ayazağa in 2019, we have held 43 sessions so far. During those 43 sessions, we have discussed 15 different topics including the internet of things, artificial intelligence, big data, smart cities, and biotechnology. Also, those sessions have hosted spokespersons from 33 companies and institutions such as Turkcell, ASELSAN, Oracle, Facebook, and IBM. Thanks to the level we have sustained for four years, we managed to pack the hall every year. We aim to further enhance and make the IEEE ITU Technical Conference an event known by all technophiles.
